Ann Long Fine Arts: 177 King Street.  843-577-0447.  www.annlongfineart.com  Representing contemporary artists, still life and figurative work.  Featuring German modernist Otto Neumann.  Monday-Saturday 11am-4pm.

The Audubon Gallery: 190 King Street.  843-853-1100. www.audubonart.com  Natural History works from 1700-1900 with an emphasis on the work of John James Audubon.  Monday- Saturday 10am-5pm or by appt.

Bird's I View Gallery: 119-A Church Street.  843-723-1276. www.anneworshamrichardson.com  Paintings show an appreciation and respect for life.  Selling a wide range of prints and originals from $25.  Tuesdays- Saturdays 11am-5pm.

Carolina Galleries: 118 King Street.  843-723-2266.  www.carolinagalleries.com  One of Charleston's most respected galleries focused on fine Southern Art.  Renaissance artists Alfred Hutty and William Aiken Walker.  Prints, portraits, landscapes and still life.  Mondays- Saturdays 10am-5pm, Sundays 2pm-5pm.

Carol McGill Fine Art Gallery: 1 1/2 Broad Street.  843-277-0044.  Carol McGill, longtime resident, paints bold, expressionistic oils and giglees to capture the shifting light and shadows.  She was chosed to be the featured artist for the 2005 Bridge Run.  Mondays- Saturdays 11am-6pm; Thursdays til 7pm.

The City Gallery at Dock Street: 133 Church Street.  843-724-1305.  Public gallery.  Shows vary greatly.  Mondays- Fridays 10am-5pm and during theatre performances. 

Fraser-Fox Fine Art:  12 Queen Street.  843-723-0073.  www.fraserfineart.com  Specializing in contemporary representational art by nationally and internationally recognized artists.  Mondays & Wednesdays- Saturdays 11am-6pm.

Gaye Sanders Fisher Gallery: 124 Church Street.  843-958-0010.  A native of Charlotte, NC Gaye Sanders Fisher's serene and refined watercolors of the area are featured.  Mondays- Saturdays 10am-6pm Sundays 1pm-6pm.

John Carroll Doyle Art Gallery: 54 1/2 Broad Street.  843-577-7344.  A native of Charleston with national popularity of his impressionist influence.  Today subject matter spans from wildlife to nudes and jazz.  Mondays- Saturdays 10am-5pm & Sundays 2pm-5pm.

John Dunnan: 131 King Street.  843-720-7425.  www.john-dunnan.com  John Dunnan is the national chairman for the performing arts.  Exhibits his own figurative expresstionistic drawings and paintings.  Mondays- Fridays 10am-6pm & Saturdays 10am-5pm.

Julia Santen: 216-B King Street.  843-534-0758.  www.juliasantengallery.com  Original vintage poster art.  Open mostly by appointment.  Closed sometimes.

Lime Blue: 62-B Queen Street.  843-722-1983.  Owner, artist and great guy Jeff Kopish.  All items in gallery are very fairly priced. 

Molly B. Right Studio:  843-568-3219.  www.mollybright.com  Artist featured on HGTV and in Martha Stewart's Blueprints froms her images from crushed bottlecaps.  On view by appointment at her studio in the Karpeles Manuscript Museum.

Nina Liu and Friends: 24 State Street.  843-722-2724.  This store front gallery carries an eclectic mix of craft-like contemporary work from local, national and international artists.  Mondays- Saturdays 10am-5pm & Sundays 12pm-5pm.

Redux: 136 St. Phillip Street.  843-364-2958.  www.reduxstudios.org  Graduated of The College of Charleston create a valiant attempt at a Contemporary Arts Center in town and have gained quite a bit of respect.  Wednesdays- Saturdays 12pm-5pm.
